Evaluating education systems change work is challenging. Systems change is complex, emergent, and non-linear. It becomes even more challenging when we are trying to evaluate how collaborative work involving many actors is contributing to systems change. This learning session explores some ways we might think about evaluating systems change work, with a particular focus on collaborative research and action, networks, and peer learning as drivers of change.
Participants will hear from CUE and KDN partners about how they have approached evaluating their own systems change work – the questions they’ve grappled with, the tensions they’ve navigated, and the insights they’ve gained along the way. This session will not dive into specific evaluation methods – though we’d love to hear whether that would be of interest for a future session.
This session will be of interest to education practitioners, researchers, and funders whose work touches on systems change in any form. The session will be hosted by Mashhood Bhat, Impact Manager at the Center for Universal Education at Brookings, and María de los Ángeles Pavez, Director of Operations and Strategy, along with Nicolás Contreras, Leader of Knowledge and Collective Impact at REimagina Fundación.
