Brookings’ Global Task Force on AI in Education – Methodology and Early Findings

This workshop will provide an overview of the methodology behind the Brookings Global Task Force on AI in Education research study. Generative AI has the power to revolutionize education by boosting creativity, personalizing learning, increasing access, and easing teachers’ workloads—but if misused, it could deepen inequities and harm student engagement, critical thinking, and resilience. To ensure its responsible use, the Task Force will proactively assess risks and design strategies to maximize benefits, learning from past challenges like those seen with social media. Researchers will present preliminary insights and invite the participants to contribute their ideas on how we can proactively shape education systems to maximize AI’s benefits while safeguarding student learning, development, and well-being. This session is led by Mary Burns Research Lead, Brookings Institution Study on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education and Natasha Luther, Senior Research Analyst Center for Universal Education
