Addressing the Foundation Learning Crisis
The world is witnessing a foundational learning crisis, defined as the inability to read and understand a simple text by the age of 10. Over 50% of children in low- and middle-income countries and 90% in sub-Saharan Africa are facing this crisis, especially children from poorest households, linguistics minorities, children with disability, those affected by protracted and recurring humanitarian crisis and girls. This interactive session will explore the scope of the crisis, key indicators for identifying learning gaps, evidence-based strategies for scaling effective interventions and the Foundational Learning Action Tracker, a tool designed to monitor progress and guide efforts in addressing learning disparities.
